Free Radicals - What are they?

A very simple explanation is they are oxygen molecules (we are all made up of oxygen molecules) that have an imbalance with the number of its electrons.  When this imbalance occurs it will steal electrons from other molecules and a chain reaction starts. They can hit the body thousands of times everyday!  Normally, the body can handle free radicals, but if antioxidants are unavailable and the free radical production becomes excessive, damage can occur.

Free radicals are known to cause more than 50 diseases with heart disease, cancer, and pre-mature aging at the top of the list. Antioxidants are vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that help combat the effects of free radicals.  This helps to neutralize the free radicals and brings back balance preventing the free radicals from causing cellular and tissue damage and disease.
